The REMHY project aims to re-use the Solution F engine test cells formerly used for competition engines by renovating and transforming them to make them compatible with the use of hydrogen for one of them, and renewable liquid fuels for the second.
These cells, initially designed for motor sport applications that do not require pollutant emissions to be measured, have also been updated with the addition of dedicated measuring equipment to reach regulated markets for engines developed in these installations, such as fixed installations like generating sets, or mobile applications in the transport sector (school buses, fishing boats and passenger shuttles, light aviation, etc.).
The REMHY project aimed to adapt Solution F’s existing experimental test facilities by reusing them. These experimental facilities are used to participate in the development of internal combustion engines running on green hydrogen produced from renewable energy sources such as wind or solar power, or renewable liquid fuels (E-fuels, synthetic fuels or biofuels). These test facilities are the only ones of their kind in the southern region.
The project consists of 3 phases, which were carried out in parallel.
1. Renovation of the 2 existing test cells
2. Adaptation of the first test cell to hydrogen
3. Adaptation of the second test cell to renewable liquid fuels.
