Our offers – products and services – meet the needs expressed by players in different sectors with whom we are in constant contact in order to offer appropriate and effective solutions.
Solution F has always been involved in motorsport, sometimes under its own name, most often as a discreet player in the shadow of major manufacturers (Aixam, Citroën, Ferrari, Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, SsangYong, Venturi, VW). In its history, the team has distinguished itself on several occasions by offering an alternative vision of the regulations in force, and this in the interest of the authorities, by promoting for example the emergence of low cost cars in multiple championships (FFSA Silhouette in France, BTCS in Belgium, STCC in Scandinavia, VdeV in Europe) and this from the beginning of the 2000s, when manufacturing and operating costs were soaring in all disciplines.
It is this same pioneering and proactive spirit that we find today in the initiatives undertaken by Solution F for the decarbonization of competitions, whether through the electrification of karting (Monaco eKart Championship) or in retrofitting to the hydrogen for competition heat engines (Foenix H2).
Repeated sporting successes quickly prompted manufacturers to consult Solution F for projects moving away from the circuits. These successive collaborations have enabled engineers and technicians to maintain close ties with the largest equipment manufacturers, particularly in the field of electronic systems and engine management software. Ditto on the chassis side where the knowledge acquired on the circuits in terms of ground connection is advantageously transferred to cars for road use.
With great responsiveness combined with an ability to adapt to all types of projects, the Solution F teams take advantage of the computing resources and rare equipment at their disposal (test benches) to design, manufacture and implement development of small series vehicles. The design office can intervene at any phase of a project, even when it comes to upgrading a nebulous concept for approval or industrialization.
In 2023, Solution F launched Twin-E, an innovative device that transforms a thermal car into a hybrid and rechargeable car. Learn more.
The know-how acquired in competition on four wheels is found in a small engine intended for airplanes, microlights and drones: the SF3T. This 750 cc turbo inline three-cylinder in aluminum combines the essential qualities for cleaner aviation since it is compact, light, sober, reliable and affordable. In addition, it is compatible with hybridization!
For ten years, Solution F has also been collaborating with large groups such as Airbus or Thales on projects for flying machines powered entirely by electricity or partially (hybrid). This is the case for example of the E-Fan, a small 100% electric device, innovative with its “dry turbine” propulsion, available in a hybrid version equipped with a heat engine capable of recharging the batteries during flight, which increases its autonomy from 60 to 135 minutes.
Solution F supports players in the maritime sector in their environmental approach, by offering kits for converting diesel engines to hydrogen. This H2 retrofit solution, which operates on large 10 to 20 liter displacement engines, has the advantage of not involving the dismantling of the original thermal engine, but more simply modifying it so that it can operate at gas.
Our electric motors, sealed thanks to their one-piece structure, are also compatible with use in a humid environment. They can be mounted in new or old ships (retrofit), like the Libellule, a 60-meter-long restaurant boat that can carry 500 passengers on Lake Annecy thanks to our 700 V motor.
If the hydrogen retrofit of a combustion engine is – for the moment – not legal in France on a vehicle for road use, it is for an “off-road” machine (agricultural machine, scraper , bulldozer, grader, etc.) that does not involve approval, but more simply self-certification.
With this solution, the entire engine is not changed, but only a few parts (fuel system, spark plug). The overall cost of ownership (cumulative cost of the vehicle throughout its life cycle) is lower with this transformation than with the replacement of the engine by an electric-hydrogen system (fuel cell).
If trains running on hydrogen fuel cells are already in circulation, the solution of the hydrogen combustion engine remains little explored in the railway field. However, it would allow the immediate conversion of part of the fleet by simply adapting existing engines, while the installation of a fuel cell and batteries requires a complete transformation of the structure of the locomotives.
Hydrogen targets railway lines between 50 and 200 km in length, without access to an electrical source. Rail attracts the hydrogen sector because the infrastructure for supplying a train is simple, with filling always carried out in the same place, on a typical route, with stable traffic. Thanks to its Flex’hy sector, the GCK group can set up local production of hydrogen in order to minimize transport costs.
Drawing on its experience as an engine manufacturer and that acquired in the storage and distribution of hydrogen (Mission H24), Solution F is working on the integration of a hydrogen combustion engine into a generator. This technology has several advantages: a competitive purchase price compared to other green technologies (fuel cell), reduced maintenance thanks to the absence of after-treatment systems (no carbon emissions at the exhaust manifold) , an ability to operate in harsh environmental conditions typical of heavy-duty applications.
Solution F can also count on the strike force of the GCK group and in particular its subsidiary Flex’hy, a company specializing in the production and distribution of hydrogen. Mobile refueling solutions can be deployed, with or without on-board hydrogen production, to promote the priming of hydrogen ecosystems. Easy to produce and store, hydrogen can be transformed into electricity through the use of a combustion engine, all without polluting emissions. This gas, compressed at high pressure in a secure tank, offers great energy autonomy for reduced size and weight.
